New Guest My name is Tom Volk, and I (still) caught the largest walleye in North Dakota at a whopping 16.59 pounds (16 lbs 9.4 ounces)! I wish the story could be that short, but as many know, it isn't. My 16.59 pound (or 16 pound 9 ounce) walleye was verified by Game and Fish to be the largest walleye caught in the state of North Dakota on April 21, 2019. It surpassed Neil Leier's walleye (the current state record at the time I caught my walleye) by nearly a pound. After my walleye was verified, Game and Fish opened an investigation on how my walleye was caught. They claimed "witnesses" came forward and stated my walleye was "foul-hooked" which would be a violation of Game and Fish regulations and ultimately a crime. They conducted what they call an "investigation" and "concluded" my walleye was foul-hooked. The investigator stated my fish didn't qualify for the record and that he was going to mail me a written warning. They did t...
The only witness willing to testify on behalf of Game and Fish lied! Click on the link to WATCH !! Knuth stated, “I seen him unhook a couple fish…he let his kids reel in a couple little fish…and they bring in the fish…and the hook would be in the back fin…or center of the fish…I seen em pull two fish in before that which were 2 pounds…4 pounds and they both had the hook in the top fin...the fish aren't biting at 3 o'clock...” Below are pictures taken on the day I caught the record walleye with Knuth in red in the background. Knuth stated in his official statement to Game and Fish that these two walleye were hooked in the top fin. Do these fish looked hooked in the top fin??!! Game and Fish had these images. Why didn't they use them to prove their witness lied? Why didn't they reference these images in their investigation report? Read POST 6 for more detailed information.
