POST 15: April 22nd (7:40pm) Other Complaints to Game and Fish

Other Complaints to Game and Fish

When the media started airing the stories about my walleye and the 12-second video clip started circulating on social media, Game and Fish received a few more complaints. Here are those complaints:

Cameron Rants

Rants made his conclusion my walleye was foul-hooked on the 12-second video clip from the Witness Video which was recorded 45 seconds after my walleye was caught and flopped in the net.
The witness video did not document where the hook was located prior to the fish being caught, when the fish was caught and prior to Gibbs walking with the net over his shoulder for 45 seconds.

Darin Miller

Miller stated he had "no doubt...the fish was snagged" and based his conclusion on the same Witness Video clip which was recorded 45 seconds after the walleye was caught and flopped in the net. Miller expressed his frustration about the "Wood Lake record walleye" and how that was a controversial record.

Todd Blotsky

Blotsky stated, "The video of the fish being caught is very clear...the hook is ripped from the skin back by the tail." Contrary to what Blotsky stated, the Witness Video was not clear and did not document how my walleye was caught or where the hook was located at that time. Blotsky made his conclusion my walleye was foul-hooked on the Witness Video clip which was recorded 45 seconds after the walleye had already been caught and flopped in the net.

Changes

So far, there have been a few people who have provided their comments on where they believed my walleye was hooked. Here is the summary:
  • Witness Knuth never saw the hook but believed it was hooked "in the tail."
  • Witness 'Quad Rider' was 230 feet away on a moving quad and believed it was hooked in the "right-side dorsal fin."
  • Rants was not a witness but believed the hook was pulled "from the back."
  • Blotsky was not a witness but believed the hook was "ripped from the skin back by the tail."
When you map out where people believed my walleye was foul-hooked, not one person came to the same conclusion! This alone proves the witness video was NOT clear and leaves a lot of reasonable doubt!

How could Game and Fish make any type of conclusion based on the information provided?
To convict someone in a court of law, there has to be direct evidence proving beyond a reasonable doubt a crime was committed.
There is no image or video documenting where the hook was located at the time the walleye was caught and netted.
